Artist Spotlight: Destineak

Destineak...they're so hot right now.

It seems like it's time for something a little different out there in the entertainment world, and Destineak have found the magic bullet - shows with Cirque du Soleil perfection, but also a show so intimate you can literally get hit with bobby's sweat - (which he does to glistening perfection). Sound sexy? Yep it is, and they are indeed.

These are two very good looking people, their photo work itself is a joy to look at (read: I would pay 15$ plus popcorn to see a Destineak movie); they are video game characters come to life, just one look at their website can tell you that, but what the website can't tell you at first glance is that these are also two 100% genuine people, who are out to make a great show for YOU! They love what they do, they're good at it, they love each other and they want to share the love, love, love.

They put such great love and care into each performance, every outfit, every stroke of the powder puff and every note in every song is blood pumping perfect.

But under the glam and the swish of the blush brush - there is Bobby James and Christina Sing, two of the coolest cats around.

Together for the past 6 years, Christina, a multi-instrumentalist and jazz vocalist from Vietnam, and Bobby, also a multi-instrumentalist and former 'punk drummer' have been hard at work on their shows (winning the Vancouver Nightlife Best Performance Act two years running), and hard at work on their new album release 'Sirens'.

But wait, that's not all! From these two of course it's not; every song on the album already has an accompanying video - you get the full meal on the first plate - so go ahead and gorge. The album itself is 8 tracks containing everything from 'pop dance hooks to rock ballads and grinding electro'.

When asked about how their specific sound came about, Sing says, " We never thought about having a 'sound'. To be honest, a lot of it was experimenting with the fast developing world of technology. We both came from bands where everyone played all the instruments acoustically, but we are both fascinated with electronic music. We can't believe a team of crazy scientists developed a way to make some of these wicked, creepy, speaker crushing sounds; they are the real geniuses! That said, Bobby and me still strive to blend acoustic and electronic. We program and play about 95% of everything on the record. Also, at the core of our music is good songwriting. You can be a very good producer, but a hit is a hit. Nothin' like good old rock anthem choruses!"

The September 25th CD Release Party at the Red Room in Vancouver, promises to be an all out freak fest, and is sure to be a quick sell out. Think music orgy.
