Hall of Fame: the Weakerthans - Left and Leaving
In 2005 CHARTattack conducted a poll for the "Top 50 Canadian Albums of All Time" and the Weakerthans Left and Leaving finished 6th. As great albums do it has become more popular since then, finishing in the top 5 in this year's Canadian Album Hall of Fame voting. Released in 2000 it was nominated for Alternative Album of the Year at the 2001 Junos. The players on the album include the Weakerthans regulars John K. Sampson (vocals, guitar, wurlitzer, acoustic guitar and 12-string), Steven Carroll (guitar, vocals, whirly-wind, piano, rhodes, lap steel), John P. Sutton (bass, vocal, piano and synth) and Jason Tait (drums, percussion, rhodes, switchblade, glockenspiel.) It also features a guest appearance from Julie Penner (of Do Make Say Think and Broken Social Scene) on violin on the song Slips and Tangles.
